Front Panel
Contains the LCD, keys and speaker. Some of the keys have two functions, their normal function and a alternate function depending on which screen is being displayed (which mode the radio is in). | Fig 1 |
The knob also has a push button function whose function also depends on the mode of the radio. In most modes pressing the knob will change it's function to a Volume control. At other times it's equivalent to pressing Enter (PgmE). This later use allows you to both navigate through a menu and make selections using only the knob, very handy.

Banks
The bank numbers at the bottom of the LCD screen can have two different meanings.
When in Service Scan (FuncSrch/Svc) the numbers show the type of service being looked for.
(1: Police, 2: Fire/Em, 3: Ham, 4:Marine, 5:Railroad, 6: Civil Air, 7:Mil Air, 8:CB, 9:FRS/GMRS/MURS, 0:Racing)
Pressing any of the numbers 0 - 9) during Service Search will toggle Off or On that service.
In most cases they refer to groups of 50 Channels. There's no requirement that a bank be inside any frequency range, modulation type &Etc. You can use they as you will. A common use is to put similar types of frequencies together, for example State VHF low band FM highway patrol, VHF & UHF FM sheriff and local police all in one bank. So if you're going to fill in the banks by the type of service then it would be a good idea to use the existing bank numbering, i.e. Bank1 for police, &Etc.

Channel import and export tool for the Uniden BC125AT, UBC125XLT and UBC126AT.
Introduction
bc125csv provides a simple command-line interface for importing andexporting the channels on your Uniden Bearcat scanner in CSV file format.
This application is not intended to provide full control of all features onyour scanner; if you want to turn off the backlight in your scanner, just turnthe knob and press some buttons. This application does however aim to lessenthe amount of work needed for entering channels considerably, especially forthose on Linux or UNIX-like systems.
If you do feel the need to change the backlight setting on your scanner usingthe command-line, the shell action will allow you to do so (see Examples).
Requirements
- Python 2.7+ or 3.4+
Both pyudev and pySerial will be automatically installed on installation.
You can use this application without a connected scanner by enabling the virtualscanner device using the
--no-scanner
option.Installation
On most UNIX-like systems, you can install bc125csv by running one of thefollowing install commands with root privileges.
or
Tests
This application aims to cover 100% of its code with tests, though someparts that require a physical device to be attached are skipped.
To run the tests, you can run the following command:
Continuous integration is done by Travis.
Usage
Examples
Exporting banks 1, 2 and 3
Importing from csv file
Verify a csv file
Enable backlight using the shell
Export format
Uniden Bc125at Scanner Software Download
The export format is a comma separated values file with header, comments and empty lines to improve readability. Empty channelsare omitted by default, but can be included using the
--include-empty
option. Any 'no' and 'none' values in the CTCSS/DCS, Lockout andPriority columns can be omitted by using the --sparse
option.Import format
The import format is the same as the export format, but forgiving:
Uniden Scanners Bc125at Manual
- CTCSS/DCS, Delay, Lockout and Priority values may be left empty,
- no, false, 0 and may be used interchangeably,
- yes, true and 1 may be used interchangeably,
- CTCSS tones may be written as 114.8, 114.8Hz, CTCSS 114.8 Hz, etc,
- DCS codes may be written as 26, 026, DCS026, DCS 026,
- lines beginning with a
#
(comment line) or,
(no channel) andthe first line (containing the header) are ignored, - additional columns are ignored,
- frequencies are automatically rounded down to 4 decimal places.
Shell
You can start an interactive shell to send commands to your scanner.See the BC125AT Operation Specification for all available commands.
You can also pipe commands into your scanner. The following example entersprogramming mode, enables the backlight, and then exits programming mode.
The wary reader might have noticed the Operation Specification dictates commandsbe terminated by a carriage return. This application automatically appends thecarriage return to each command it sends to the scanner. There's no need toinclude a carriage return yourself.
Compatibility
This application is compatible with the Uniden Bearcat models BC125AT, UBC125XLTand UBC126AT.
